In Kansas City, Sunday, I think, a four-year-old picked up a loaded .45, shot and killed a five-year-old, and seriously wounded a seven-year-old.

Okay, first of all, why was it left loaded? Secondly, why was it within reach of a four-year-old?? Thirdly, why was it not locked, in a locked cabinet or something???

The parents are to blame. They should be shot...I'm at a loss for words......

Thats terrible, hence my displeasure for firearms. I agree, the parents are responsible.

This is why we don't need random handguns, people. If you hunt, that'* fine. if you're a cop, that'* fine. But unless you live ina freakin' warzone, you don't need a damn gun in the house.

Guns are touchy subjects. We all have our opinions and they are to be respected. However, its acceptable to remember and mourn the losses caused by ACCIDENTS involving firearms.

Theres nothing wrong with firearms, as long as there used responsibly. I use one for work. But when I am at home its unloaded and the pistol is locked in one box in my kitchen and the ammo is locked in another box in my bedroom. Theres only been one time I left it loaded and thats when we were recieving wierd phone calls and even then its was in a locked box. I hate when stupid people who misuse firearms give firearms a bad rep. I wish there was a way to keep guns away from stupid people. Thats just my $.02 worth. The issue with firearms is a no win battle. the pros and cons are about equal.

I have two handguns, one rifle, and three shotguns. I don't work for law enforcement, and I don't hunt. I like to skeet shoot, and target shoot. Its my right to own and use one in a lawful manor (including carrying a licensed concealed weapon for protection), and I intend to so for as long as I can. I dont live in a "warzone", and as long as there are LEGAL, RESPONSIBLE and SAFE gun owners and users where I live, its not going to become one.

I mourn the loss of anyone who is involved in an accidental shooting, becuase of the loss of a loved one, and the grief that friends and family usually go through, but also becuase when it happens it brings people out who think that all the problems would simply go away if we got rid of guns.

You are right 89BonnieSE89, guns are a touchy subject and I am just sharing my humble opinion. I know that some of our members are from Canada where gun ownership laws and rights may be different, and I respect those thoughts expressed by our neighbors to the north becuase they are influenced by what they are allowed and not allowed to do in regards to gun use and ownership.

Humble opinions are respected and tolerated....

That is the wonderful thing about life...we can make choices. Just continue to make the right choices and exercise caution and responsibility

I am not bringing up this trajedy for or against guns. In fact, I'm looking at some myself. I merely mention this to illustrate how irresponsible people are a menace to society. The general disposition of all on this forum create a feeling of responsible owners. Any who are not responsible, will let their Bonnie rust/wilt away, leaving it in such disrepair and then letting people ride with them in a dangerous car. It'* the same thing. Either you are a responsible person or you aren't. You can kill with a car, too.
