help with xbox live

Default help with xbox live

well my xbox live pooped out on me today. I have a router hooked up to my computer for my sister computer and my computer so we both have internet. And i have the ether cord spelling is probaly wrong but the xbox says that the ip address is being shared with more then one device. So my question is how do i fix this so i can use xbox live again because i know nothing about computers

thats weird, i use xbl with a router, and its never said that.

is the ethernet cable you have a crossover cable.

if you hold the cable ends so the copper is facing you(tab away), what color do you see to the far left, on each end of the ethernet cable?

Not much help from me but I also run my xbox through a router and have never seen that message.

I just used what ever wire came with the xbox its done this once before but its doing it again. I've had xbox live for over a year so i dont know why its doing it now and it just worked today around 12pm.

maybe try resetting the router? idk.

I tired that and i also tried reseting and unplugging both the modem and the router and still no luck bu thanks for the help.

Go into the router settings, and assign IP'* to specific devices. Assign the xbox to xxx.xxx.x.2 and the PC to xxx.xxx.x.5 for example..

so how would i even get to the router settings and what not and where do i get the numbers to put in. Like i said i know little to nothing about that kind of computer stuff.

You'll have to use the computer and surf to it through an internet browser, look in the manual for how to set it up.
