Default HELP - i'm BLIND . . . .

okay, maybe not today but last week i was . . . i finally had my eyes lasered - PRK!

NOTE: if i misspell anything i still can not completely focus on the computer screen.

had it done last Wednesday. always wanted to do it now it is done.

some random points:

PAIN!! Lot'* of PAIN!!

if you get it done make sure you have atleast a week or more off from WORK/school for the PRK

It really helps to have a Loving wife and a helpful son

results???? stilll healing. final results in about 30 days. my test yesterday showed a 20/15 combined!! it is still fuzzy and due to healing not consistant

should you have it done . . . yes, no, maybe - ask me again in a week or so after my eyes stabilize greater.

Anyone else have it done yet? Want to have it done???

I've wanted to get it done for a while, but the whole cost think is turning me away currently. How bad was your prescription before? My eyes are about -7 and -7.5, but that was a while ago and I know they've gotten worse since.

I want to get it done but I was told the worse your eyesight the greater your chances of permanent injury. Looking at the horror stories on the internet I'm not sure if I want to risk it, even though the risk is small. Oh btw, my eyes are -8.75 -9.00. Yeah, bad.

Dang, and I thought I was blind at -5.75 and -6.00 !

I've thought about Lasic surgery, but the cost has kept me away too. Plus a co-worker of mine had it done, and had to go back several times to get things fixed. :? And how come every eye doctor I've ever been to still wears glasses, and hasn't had it done... ? Hmmm.....

I think I'll stick with my disposable soft contacts for now. I can handle spending $18 for a box every 6 months.

Anyone know what the cutoff is for 'legally blind'?

The American Optometric Association states that a person with 20/20 vision can clearly identify a row of 9mm letters from 20 feet. A legally blind person with vision of 20/200 has to be as close as 20 feet to identify objects that people with normal vision can spot from 200 feet. So a legally blind person needs a distance of two feet to spot the letters on a standard eye chart that is 20 feet away.
