Default GTP vs. 94-96 Impalla SS

Which would you choose? The GTP is faster stock 14.6@94mph vs 15.4@ 90mph. However, the Impalla SS from 94-96 has rear wheel drive and is rare. This is considering both cars cost the same. I don't know what i'd choose. I love the whine but a $4000 Impalla SS would be sweet. The new Impalla SS 04+ has the Ser 2 L67 and goes from 0-60 in only 6.4 sec. and weighs only 3412lbs. Its quicker than a GTP beleive it or not. But anyways back on the 94-96 Impalla SS vs. GTP. Or maybe a 94-96 Impalla SS vs a 04+ Impala SS for the same price, now thats food for thought.

Another question I have is if the ser 2 L67 was fitted with rear wheel drive would you choose it over the 94'-96' Impalla SS. I would.

The older Impalas are pretty badass, but they are big heavy cars. They have a lot of grunt, but it would be cheaper to mod the GTP and make it faster. The LT1 is a good engine, but you will need to do more than a few things to keep up with a pullied GTP.

ss hands down. that car just screams badass. i kno, u could mod a gtp for less $, but u theres a ton you can do to those 350s. plus rear vs front drive, no contest. and u can make the ss a stick if u want, which is damn near impossible on our cars, i assume, since i have never heard of anybody doing it.

GTP for me. Despite the bad *** look, its just to big even for my tastes ( and I like a big car). If it came down to it, GTP would come out first.

I suppose its all about what you want tho

actually they usually swap in our interiors sooo...

GTP > SS
'04 SS > 94-96 SS

bottom line l67 will dominate with its low end. way back in the day my friend and i test drove a purple 96 ss and we were both disappointed. sounded good though

I agree. One time when I was wasted my friend was driving my car and raced a 94 Camaro with the LT-1. I told him not to because I thought we'd lose. But we won, on the Elko oval track tha is. The Camaro was a stock auto though.
