Default GTO vs. SVT Mustang...

....Mustang won!!........According to Car & Driver, the 'Stang out-accelrated, was faster in the 1/4, and was better in the slalom. Here'* and article in the same magazine, but doesn't show the 'Stang. The article "Fear and Losing in Las Vegas" in that same magazine shows it. But this one shows very interesting info. But it would give the 'Stang a run for it'* money if this occurred:

Plus, it'* a perfect blank canvas for the aftermarket, which will scramble to develop bigger wheels and tires, body tack-ons, exhaust kits, and the inevitable 405-hp LS6 conversion. GTO Judge, anyone?

Nevermind the stang is almost $10k more, and it'* still not as nice a car inside, or in looks dept. That LS1 can be modded HEAVILY, and will slaughter the SVT. If they make a GTO GXP...

No it'* not!! The Cobra lists for like 33-35k. The Goat lists for 31-33k. Cobra is plenty quicker and has better exterior styling IMO. But, Mustang interiors are cheap to say the least and I like the GTO'* A LOT better, except for that fugly steering wheel. They might make a Judge variant of the GTO with the LS6, from the you know what. Over 400hp is likely....

You must have read the same article I did about the Judge. My understanding from a little more research is that it WILL happen. Probably within the year.

That'* what it mentions in the article above. 405-hp LS6. I hate the styling of the GTO, as it mentions in that article, they didn't have the money or the time to make it look good. Now the 'Stang, particularly the '05...

But now that they have the time, who knows what the '05 or '06 GTO (Judge, esp.) is gonna bring...prolly take the cake!!...

LS1 can easily be converted to LS6, and there are plenty of bolt ons. The SVT Cobra R is the expensive fast one, the base cobra wouldn't be faster would it?

yes, actually it would. just FYI, the cobra r had pretty much nothing, radio, a/c, back seat, blah blah blah and was built primarily for race. it even had the 5.4L(351s/c) that is shared with the Lightning. the '03 has the dohc 32valve 4.6. it is */c and rated at 390hp(vs. 385 in the R). it also has all the cd changers and a/c'* as well. i know yall aren't Ford fans but

I didn't think the base cobra would still be able to take a GTO...
