The 2004 Pontiac GTO should have been called The Pontiac Tempest compared to this years model!!!

I hope the GTO will one day evolve into what it was called many years ago

No thanks, I'll take the current model. No scoops, old style spoiler, dual exhaust to one side, *clean* styling. I don't like them mucking it up by tacking other stuff on.

I think the one-sided exhaust was mainly to mimic the exhaust sound of the original GTO'*. I read about it when they first came out. The way the pipes ran under the car created a unique sound. :?

Had one of these in some sort of deep blue color at work the other day. Push that beautiful-looking pedal furthest to the right in one of them and you'll realize that it doesn't just have a sport appearance package. that'* WoW. They're golden.

And if that'* not enough, we had an 05 red Vette in too....man, just makes you want to be able to remove your upperbody before entering the car to avoid getting hit with all those G'*. (PS if you're given the chance to see/drive/whatever a new vette, don't be too stupid to figure out how to open the door, just reach where you think the handle is and it'll read your fingerprint to open the door. I looked pretty stupid trying to get in the car for longer than i actually got to drive it, haha)

the 2004 model had a true dual exhaust but exited on one side because they couldnt route the piping around that side of the irs and the gas tank. for some reason tough i think it a ctually looks better than the 2005 split ones. maybe if it was hangin off the bodywork instead of body wrapped around it like back in the day...

As far as I know, the Australian-market Holden Monaro had the same exhaust setup. GM rushed to get the initial GTO out, so I'm willing to assume that the exhaust setup was something that they didn't have time to do.
