Default Great new car around 30,000 cdn

My friend is looking to buy a car for his wife, hes lookin into a nissan altima. the car is exactly 30,000 (with leather) 2004... Is it going to make it though winter? If it were my choice Id get him to drive a 99 aroura, and pocket the difference... is this 04 0km car even a whole lot more reliable then a 99 aroura with 70,000km, or a 2000 ssei with 70,000km?
Also if he is lookin into import maybe a subaru? I know the awd is almost bullet proof, and it will last though winter, whats a baja worth? and whats a wrx worth? new.
I feel it'* just pissing away 30k on a nissan with how the price of the car is only 20 in a year or 2...
any others that are descent?
any $.02?

IMHO Nissan makes a damned good car. The only thing I do not like about the altimas is the interior, its cheap as hell. In terms of reliability the car is probably more reliable than the Aurora, but I agree, I do like the Aurora more, its just a better car.

Who is the car for?

Don't waste money on a new car, get a used car just driven off the lot by a tard who decided the color was wrong, then their life ended because the dealer wasn't going to take it back and they just HAD to have it in Teal.

V6? With that price tag, I assume so. A good car, but the torque steer is a bit bad. Interior is a bit cheapo, but still better than the interior in its domestic competition, imo.

Go for it. Speed that rivals an SSEi.

I would say forget the new Altima and get a 99 or 2000 Maxima, nicer car

I agree with everyone about the interior...not exactly well made (but then, I saw a 2003 Lincoln LS that was worse), but they are one sweet looking car...classy.

I would go for a model a year or two older though unless they are dead set on "new" car (but it'* no longer new as soon as you drive it off the lot...and the depreciation is phenominal on new cars).

Maximas are nice too, but the look is not as good IMO ...but looks aren't everything.

Nissans are good cars though...probably can't go wrong.

As for the Aurora...they are great cars, but I very rarely see women driving them...in fact, I have never seen one woman behind the wheel of one. He needs to find out what she wants...does she just want a puddle jumper? Does she want all the luxuries (can't go wrong with an Aurora if that is the case)? How does she drive?

IMO he needs to get this info from her because too many men fall into the trap of trying to do something nice for their wives and it turning into them buying what they want, not what she wants.

Bang for the buck, why spent 30G CDN on a cheaply outfitted Nissan, when you can get a decked out late ninties Aurora (or something similar) for $20 000 less, or he can just ship the 20G to me...need a mailing addy???
