Grand Am Issue
My car, in its recent quest to prove that it has more control over my bank account then I do (grrr...), had developed yet another issue. You know that noise the blinker makes when it is on...well my car took to making that noise, only at twice the tempo, while I am driving down the road. It'll stop (making me thing that hopefully it has fixed itself) only to start once again. I turned off the car, then turned it back on and it still making that noise. It has been suggested that maybe my blinker is out (something I will check when the windchill is above the freezing it is now). Any other thoughts or is this it?

Sounds like the multifunction switch....Classic Aurori have the same problem. Does it stop when you apply the brake? Also, check the rear 3rd brake light, does it slightly flicker?
I've just learned to grin and bear it, and it comes and goes...
Anything out there for Grand Ams and multifunction switch issues?

Odd. My wife'* 04 started doing that on Friday. I looked it up up grandamownersclub.com and found it is most likely grease and metal shavings in the turn signal stalk are shorting the terminals. You can take a cover off the steering column, remove a screw or two and clean the thing then put it back together.

Thanks guys. That looks reasonable. If it wasn't negative ten out I'd actually try it myself, but I think I'll wait for the heated garage. This means I have i'll have to drive with the annoying for a bit. Wish me sanity!

I'm not sure if the GA is the same as the Bonnie... but i had this happen once. Not only did the turn signal noise sound off 2x as fast, but the light blinked 2xs as fast too... it was because my headlight was out (actully, someone forgot to plug it in after clearing my corners). Once the headlight was pluged in, all went back to normal.
So...perhaps you've got a bulb out somewhere, and the fast signal is to let you know...???

When a turn signal is out on my car (and could be typical for others) the signal indicator on the dash, doesn't flash, its stays on constantly. That is how the car identifies to the operator that a signal is out due a blown bulb.
For the purposes of process of elimination, all these have to be checked, but my gut is telling me, its a dirty multifunction switch

Ive seen tons of grand am'* that have the same issue. It'* a rather pricey part really. You have 2 options, buy an new one, or deal with it, crank up the radio and pray to god it stops clicking lol. It will eventually.
