Got a body work job coming up next week so I called my brother to borrow his small welder. He said he was heading over to moms to pick up a few things. I said toss the welder in your truck and I'll meet you over there and help load up your truck. We get there and he hands me the welder. Then says, keep it, I don't use this one. Yaaa for me. It'* small and is only good for sheet metal. But will work for now.

Played around a bit. I'm used to much larger welders where I can control the heat. This one has a high/low switch.

Those little ones take alot of "feel". i have a 125 but it still is pretty much a hobby toy. I have learned to be creative, slow the wire, and "knit" things together. LOL

Yep, I slowed the wire down a lot and it helped to not blow holes in the sheet. Going to take a bit more practice. I like the one at work much better. Far better control.

The problem is I only have 120v in my shop. I really need to get that upgraded. So many things I want, and my options are really small.

just borrow the generator lol.... my guys have no problem taking what ever they need haha... even the shop when needed lmao

Yes, they can be tricky to get going sometimes, but once I get it, boy do my beads look good!

I've found that the Lincoln 140 that I picked up (while being a 120V) seems to be adequate for the amount of work I do with it. Being that I was buying, I went for something with about the most punch and gas shielding w/o having to upgrade the service to my house. I'm about out of space to add circuits.

I'm still getting used to it. Figure I'll do good bit more before winter to become "proficient" enough.

I found one I want at Menards for $450, it'* still 120v but has 140 amps.
