Back up and running again.

I updated it all.. bios, raid controllers, you name it. Working like a champ and I'm already liking Windows 7 more than Vista and XP.

Glad to hear, Bill. Speaking of Windows7....Freakin MicroSoft deliberately halted production of the "Family" 3 computer upgrade packs to coincide with the Christmas shopping season. So we all with multiple computers will buy singles to placate all who want 7 in their stocking in a household. And being tight lipped about when or even if multiuse packs will again be distributed. Nice way to run the world you already own Gates.

Me like Kev, didn't Gates step down John? Isn't it some Ballmer guy now?

If you don't need any of those 400 gig drives I might be interested in taking them off your hands as long as it a SATA drive

Bill stepped down, as CEO. It was an "image" move. He will never let go of the protectionist reigns he holds tightly. Pisses me off as a consumer who has a use for all 3 upgrades in the family pack. But I have to admit it was marketing genius to let it sell out just before the Christmas season. I'm sure it wasn't him himself or alone. His people are well trained and weeded out.

I've got (2) 1TB WD RE3'*, they are supposed to be enterprise drives, so probably similar to what you have there. I ran them in Raid-1, figuring they are supposed to be reliable drives. Of course the drives have been going strong, but I took my rig to a tech meeting for a presentation and the raid controller died.... Lost my 120GB rainbow table, took me all summer to download that thing!

Moral of the story? Beware the raid controller.

Tom... those are exactly the same drives I picked up. Sorry to hear about your controller... Being that controller and drive are seperate and once you loose either.. yeah. That sucks.

That'* why I mirrored this time. I also mirrored the 400'*. Figured that gave me 1.4 TB of mirror. Shouldn't lose a thing from now on.
