some gas stations offer either premium or mid-grade (im not sure which) at the same price of regular. I think the store by me that does it is Hucks. How much is the $$ difference between getting the same-price midgrade and adding octane booster, versus getting premium?

Primium is about $.20 per gallon more than regular unleaded. If you put 14 gallons in your tank, you are looking at $2.80 (USD) more per fill-up. Octane boost runs anywhere from $1.50-$5.00, depending an the brand, and only increased the octane less than a factor of one (usually .7 octane). For the cost of the fuel, I think it is worth it--especially since I will never have to worry about having an upper intake fail on me. Granted the */C could go out, but at least it won't take my engine out with it.

Yes, it is. But it doesn't make much of a difference. The issues that have more of an impact on insurance are driving record, age, and whether or not you have multiple vehicle insurance or multiple policies with an insurance company (home, auto, life, etc.)
If you have a bad driving record, you rates will be high regardless of what you drive. My advise is to shop around for insurance companies (use like coverage to get a good feel for value) and don't be affraid to ask them how much your rate would be for an SSEi. They will need a vin number to give you accurate rates, but they will be able to give you an idea without it. Ask how much it would be for both an SSEi and an SLE or SSE or SE (whatever you are considering buying.)
