if the grille is the only reason you think it'* not an SSE then there'* a problem. A grille can be taken out by even a small bird if you hit it just right. It could have been replaced with the SE grille.

GM didnt start badging the SLE 98 when the package recieved the SSE/SSEi body. The SLE started in 93 and just looked like anyother SE, but had lots of stuff added in options. this remained into 97 and then in 98 the Body cladding changed. But some have added the badge like myself
