Default Gm service tech refuses work

Well took the car in this morning for the Inlet oil line and the outlet oil line..

Took the camera to document the process. Was stopped at the door to the Garage. by the service writer was told that if i went in there the tech would turn it away. Confused i said lets go talk to the General Manager who i know personally. After a short talk with her i decided to pull it out of there She was quite miffed as to why I wasnt allowed to be there as I always am. I explained to Her that I am documenting the work being done for a website and thought pictures would help others though the process. This is only the second time i have had this car there and if I can get the work order closed it won't be going back..

This is why I usually use Brockville Motor Sale'* having once worked there kinda gives me access to the behind the scene places a normal customer isn't allowed to be i guess.

The way i look at it is it'* my car if i want to make sure the job is being done meets my expectations i should have the right to witness the work. Hell at this point it'* not even an insurance issue since i signed a waiver there a few years back. Just the mechanic being a a$$

being a former mechanic myself.. there is NOTHING more annoying than a customer over your shoulder while you work....

Whenever i would have a customer over my shoulder i would just sit there and talk to them, as long as they were there, i wasn't working, and the longer it would take. (fortunately i wasn't flat rate)

I agree with Toast 100%, mechanics make their money working fast because they are typically paid flat rate. Any distraction could cause a problem or slow them down. The last thing they want is a break in concentration.

I also used to work at a Service Center....... If you want to document the work... do it yourself. The last thing techs wants is someone watching them while they work.... doens't matter the reason.

I guess each place is different. At my brothers shop, I just walk in like I work there and take a look around at the other 3800 cars that are in for service and then mosey on down to my brothers area. No biggie. No one ever stops me.

I don't know of ANY Professional that would like his work "documented" on camera (except someone that belongs to the Screen Actors Guild). I can see if your point of view, but you should have received permission from GM and The Tech before you arrived with camera in hand. I assume you want to remain on the friendly side with this dealership.
