Direct Injection is the ****, it has been out in the marine industry since 94 (Mercury OptiMax Outboard). All major outboard manufacturers have adapted DI in their own way, Evinrude E-Tec, Mercury OptiMax, Yamaha HPDI, and so on. The OptiMax is faster, gets better gas milage, and has better emissions than the four stroke outboard of the same size. The only problem is that the proven technology (outboards) have only been in 2 strokes.

I think it will be awesome in the automotive industry. Mercury is already getting 300 hp out of a 3.0 block stroked to 3.2.

Not bad at all, this will definately compete with Toyota/Lexus and the IS350 with the 3.5L 306hp V6.

It would also compete with Nissan/Infiniti'* 306hp 3.5.
