2.14 here. It was just 2.07 yesterday and earlier in the week it was only 1.99 :(

2.75 in some areas here, cheapest is 2.59 and thats at some citgo'*

The majority oil the U.*. imports comes from South America, not the Persian Gulf. With more and more countries making a demand for oil(China being the foremost) the price inevitably goes up.
Last I checked it was 2.19 for regular, 2.39 for premium at the station I go to.
