The funnest thing around.
What is there for two drunks to do in Texas on a Monday night? We didn't either.
We got Matt to take us over to WalMart so we could wander around and think. Then we stumbled across the 1:24 skill level three models. I was telling anthony how I'd put a drag race motor in a chop dropped '55 chevy before and he called BS on me so we got a '62 Bel Air and a '32 Chevy Coupe Lowrider. The coupe had a SC 427 and the Bel Air a 305. We even found some metallic dark green and all the strings to build the thing.
So it starts, I build the chassis sans engine and anthony builds the interior. White with dark green accents, flat black under carrage with aluminum springs and dark blue shocks. We got all the done and started on the body as it would take forever. Turns out a bathroom is a great paint booth. The cat can't get in there and the exhaust fan keeps you from passing out. awesome paint job sprayed by myself. Anthony painted the engine and we assembled it and the firewall. Sat the firewall on the chassis and by god, that 427 fit. Made a custom driveshaft and motor mounts from a peice of plastic tree.
Now all we have left to do next monday when our off days collide is:
Touchup on chassis from where i had to remove paint to glue.
Touchup on interior where anthony sneezed when doing the trim on the front seat.
paint the badges on the body.
cut a hole in the hood for the SC and velocity stacks to fit.
paint the inside of the body so it looks great at every angle.
pipe the exhaust system
coolant hoses.
Piping the exhaust is the trickiest part. You just take some plastic tree and heat it a little with a lighter to bend it. once it fits you paint and install it. very trick. I'm going to use the cherry bomb style mufflers from the lowrider kit. looks like about 3" pipe installed.
You guys ever done anything like that?

I definately want to see pics of this. I have several model cars put up in storage that were given to me from a few former boyfriends. They have my name on them and were made just for me.

Where do you get stuff? Only place I've ever found model stuff is Wal-Mart here...
Is there a website or something with some tips and tricks and things?
I'll grab some pics probably Monday when we work on it again, I've got the body sitting in a case curing to a rock hard finish and a few other things sitting in precarious positions to cure well.

Wow. Don't model and drink kids. One of the valve covers is upside down. the white interior is a little thin, I'll have to do that again. There'* alot of touch up, the glass, and the chrome to do.
Have camera, 6pm tommorrow we'll try to get it finished up.
