Well. some of you have probally heard about that shooting of four Poilice officers in Northern Alberta, Mayerthorpe to be exact, Well, at Zellers, were I work we had an Loss Prevention Officer, His name, Brock Myrol. Hell of a guy, worked there for ten years, was really dedicated and focused on one day Becoming a par of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In August he went for his training and schooling, On Valentines day he was united into the force, he packed up from Red Deer, headed north 300 miles to a small town of 2500 with his Fiance. Last Thursday, he was at the drug bust, he was the first officer shot and killed. Friday morning at Zellers, this came as a shock to everyone, the Store Manager, taking it probally the worst, as he was also good friends with Brock outside of work. To work with this man for 2 years was great, always a good guy to talk to, or work with, could make any bad day better.
But now he is gone, leaving his Fiance with out a soon to be Husband, leaving his Mother and Father without a son, and those of us who worked with him ; without a friend.
R.I.P
He Died doing what he always dreamed of and loved, to Serve and Protect.

Age. 29yrs

4 Officers were shot and killed in the line of duty. Actually, one of them was not even on duty but just dropping one of them off on his way by. They were securing the scene as the property owner took his truck through a filed and took off. They found his truck 24 kms ( approx 15 miles) from the scene. He made it back somehow and shot all 4 with a high powered riffle. They later found the shooters body inside the building where his grow op was.

John Burright, who'* kids go to school with mine (and who'* wife volunteered in Kindergarten with me as a room parent for both of each of our kids) is still in a coma. Jason Hoerauf, an Albany Officer (I worked with APD at the time) was killed in the accident. Not 'in the line of fire' but doing their duty nonetheless. Great guys, great people, great families.

On top of that, a good friend of mine, Steve Stenberg, just died from a brain hemmorage. His memorial service is tomorrow.

OMG i am so sorry to hear that. That is aweful but i do hope that the killers got caught. At least he along with his fellow coworkers died protecting and serving, which is no consolation! Me and moms hearts go out to the families of the victims. Prayers are with them also!!

So sorry to hear about that though!!! I hope the criminals get what they deserve.

This situation brings up a lot of issues about our Gun Registry, but thats another story. Very tragic event, 4 officers of the RCMP (our federal police force) go out to investigate a known criminal suspected of having stolen car parts and were gunned down one by one. The weapons that the officers had were no match for the high powered assault rifle.

Huge memorial services across the Country for those fine men.

Actually they were there because he refused to continue making payments on is brand new truck, cause he found a small ding in his tailgate and they offered to fix it and not put a new tailgate on it.

My condolences. So young--- It really bums me out.

I just suffered a loss recently, thus I've not been around a lot. My dad finally succumbed to his cancer and pulmonary fibrosis(lungs turn fiberous) on the 24th of January. He was the best man I ever knew, and is severely missed.

I bring this up because as I walk towards his grave I pass another grave of another young man who died this past August at age 26. He was a father.

It just really hits me how precious life is, and makes me really value family and friends(especially my expecting wife and 1 yr. old son) so much more. You never know really how much time you(or they) got....
