Just did some check in 95 i dont think the Grand Prix had a 4cylnder option.

I did a auto trader search for the whole US in 95 for a grand prix with a 4. came up with 0

i think its a grand AM then

I just did the same thing, and came to the same conclusion. I also looked on the quad4forums and it looks like the no start issues can be very difficult to track down along with known head gasket issues. I really think I'm going to pass on this. Thanks for looking.

Any way you look at it, time is against you. If the oil already looks that bad, consider the whole bottom end to be toast.

I don't recall a Grand Prix ever having a 4 cylinder engine, but the Grand Am'* had quad-4'* and a couple different types of V6'* in the GT'*. So this may be a Grand Am with the Quad-4. Those are decent engines, but like earlier said, head gaskets are the major problem with the Quad-4'*. I'm with everyone else on this, a free car, 1995......i'd take it in a heartbeat.

Here is the way I see it. If you can get it towed for less than $50, call the local junkyard and see what they pay. If it is $100, have it towed there and pocket the $50.

or check craigslist for people who pay to buy cars. they'll pay $50-100 and pick it up for you.

If you want to try and fix it, let me know. I love tearing into old cars. If I had a place to store it, I'd take it. it'd give me something to do on the weekends...

TAKE IT!! Shouldn't be hard to find a V6 subframe in the JY, and then an L67 swap is easy enough...

i'd avoid this. for one, it'* a grand am. the grand prix of that era never came with a 4 cylinder. second, it'* either going to be a coil/icm, or the head gasket. if it'* coil/icm, you're golden. if it'* the head gasket, you're going to regret this gift. if you have the time and storage to part it out, then go for it. otherwise, i guarantee you're in for an expensive project.

if its a head gasket you can toss it on craiglist or tow it to a junkyard and still come out ahead.
