Default Fix Xbox or buy new 360

My Xbox has been sitting unused for the past 2 years now when I use it I get the dreaded dirty disc error. used a cd cleaning kit but it did nothing. A new replacment drive is on Ebay for about 60 bucks. Should I fix my defective drive or just trade this xbox in for a 360?

If you haven't used it in 2 years, go 360. I'd only fix the Xbox if there were new games coming out for it, which there isn't.

Go with 360, but try spraying compressed air into it first, a cd laser lens cleaner can actually damage the lens

I agree with attempting to clean it again.

Different device, but same concept for my story....

I bought my house, and the previous owner left a 3 disc CD-changer with a 5 speaker surround system in my garage. I plugged it in, radio worked, cd-player worked intermitently. I attempted to blow it out(figured it was dirty) and the cd'* suddenly started working a little better. I proceeded to tear the thing apart, and used a paper towel to lightly brush the lens clean. Well, I haven't been in the garage much lately, but last I knew, it was working flawlessly.

Try cleaning it again. Since you're considering buying a new one already, you won't be out much if you destroy the drive. If you try to clean the lense physically, I strongly suggest you be gentle. Good luck

I have an old PS2, got it only a few months after they first came out, it works, but takes 5 minutes to load a disc, we all have tried cleaning it, it still takes 5 minutes to load a disc, but now it won't play DVDs

Yeah sony replaced my PS2 due to the same problems you were having. I am still debating ps3 over 360 since the price of Ps3 keeps dropping. I seen a combo PS3 and game for 449.99 no tax since I live in DE.

The price for the PS3 was dropped to firesale the remaining inventory until SONY releases another model of the PS3 which will bring the price right back up!
