The kits I use consist of a can of pre-hopped malt and some yeast. Then I buy some corn sugar, and bottle caps, that'* about it. There are several brands including Cooper the I use most of the time. Most of them are made in Britain or Australia and are idiot proof as long as you use corn sugar and not white table sugar. (or use 2 kits and no sugar)

It sounds like Willwren does it the longer but better way with fresh hops boiling on the stove top. I'm going to try that one day.
