Everyone states that those older country songs are better, but I don't ever see anyone who avoids today'* country music actually pursuing listening to those songs. Prove me wrong! Find a person who doesn't know about my claim and yet does listen to old country music, the arguably better stuff, even though his or her clear preferences are rock and such.

There is one right here...sorta...I have to compromise with my uncle when we are working together...he hates the stuff I listen to and I hate the stuff he listens to..we can only agree on the oldies or the old(classic) country music....It'* what I listen to in the summer since its the only thing coming in on the radio that I like. Every once in a while I get the urge to listen to some Hank Williams or Lynrd Skynrd.

I'm just saying that even I can tell people old country music is so much better than contemporary stuff that I actually like it a bit. Then, I mean to say that it doesn't matter if I like it or not because I never really try to listen to it, have no old CDs or tapes, or go to radio stations looking for old songs. This is true with a lot of people, but way to show me up, Silver!

lol...anytime...lol..jk...I don't know though I am seeing a trend in my Generation for liking a lot of the older stuff...Not necessarily the old country, but I have many friends that have at least 30% of their itunes full of classic rock/pop....I personally have a lot of Mommas and Poppas along with a ton of Beach Boys, Beatles and even, I admit it, Micheal Jackson...then throw in some Guns 'n Roses, Aerosmith, and Blue Oyster Cult....lol and then of course there is some Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks....I have a broad range....I personally think it all completely depends on what kind of mood a person is in....sometimes I get the urge to listen to celtic music....lol

Today'* country music is essentially pop music with an electric guitar and cowboy hats......
There is no such thing as today'* country. New country music (that is played on radio) Is a hybrid of 80'* pop music and southern rock. It definitely has nothing to do with country music except by title. Over 90% of all "new country" that is played on the radio is written and composed by 4 people in Nashville. It just a formula, say these words to this composition and out cranks the song for the masses.
My Dad drove a truck in the 60s and 70s, and I grew up listening to his AM radio playing country.
SSEIDriver- if you get bored do a google on guy named Mojo Nixon and listen to some of his commentary- I bet you will love it,

I've always been a metalhead metallica, megadeth, with a little punk thrown in like the offspring.
More recently I've been getting into the new heavy rock that never makes it to the radio. Some of it could be called screamo but some others are quite talented and better then most crap on the radio.
Some bands on my fav list right now
Atreyu
Attack attack
horse the band
Jamies elsewhere
From autumn to ashes
Austrian death machine (arnold schwartzanegger tribute band...hilarious)
gorillaz
