Explain your username to us...

Tell us why you chose the member name that identifies you on gmforum.com. Some names are obvious, but some just make you wonder....... ie..."danthurs"??

jk Dan Thurs

I'll start: Toddster

Really old nickname I've have for years. I love all things that rolls or goes!

So thats me, how about you?

Black Pearl 12-06-2009 11:31 PM

My username is my cars name. It didn't really get a name until I got my new plates *** ARR. We were watching Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and it went from there. It's black, it's shiny and it crewed by the damned. It started as a joke, and it stuck. Heck even my D.I.C says Black Pearl when it starts up

GXP Venom 12-06-2009 11:53 PM

Same for me, car's name. After I nitroused the car, the first nite out I blew away a Mustang GT. And the following day went to a Fair and saw a cool red license plate with a Cobra on it. Very similar to this

http://www.autoplates.com/store/prod...jpg&w=110&h=55

Bought it, put it in the back window. And the name just stuck. A mental "finger" at Ford's Sport offering.

Purplehazeir 12-07-2009 12:01 AM

Last name is Hayes. My nickname in High School was Purple...as in Jimi Hendrix widely famous song 'Purple Haze'.. Many of my friends still call me Purple. My user name is Purple Haze I Are.....as PURPLEHAZEIR :)

Danthurs 12-07-2009 07:24 AM

Just the name I was given.

1993 SLE 12-07-2009 08:09 AM

it was my First Bonneville. Now i use it as a rememberance of the car i had, and the car i now have

sseiyaaround 12-07-2009 08:17 AM

idk why mine is the way it is... when i spelled out ssei it sounded like cya hence cyaaround.

2001SCBONNE 12-07-2009 08:55 AM

Mine is easy It my car. The one I wanted was already taken

PaladineSLE 12-07-2009 09:51 AM

Paladine is a god from a book I used to read in highschool, and SLE is is the model of my baby lol. PaladineSLE

Nobotada84 12-07-2009 10:23 AM

Not sure how many of you saw the movie "last samurai, but in the movie there is a samurai named 'Nobotada". His armor is gold just like my bonneville. And given my partial japanese heritage i thought it was fitting. 84 is just the year i was born.

BillBoost37 12-07-2009 10:30 AM

Wow, many of you guys are kinda borrrrrring.

I'll try and spice it up a little. Having zero imagination when i signed up for AOL in the dark ages, it wanted to assign me many different things. One was BillBost123872345927352397, which is my first name with the first four of my last name and some horrific number. I had recently gotten a rease to 37K a year. It seemed fitting and backfired well. Most thought it was my age. BillBost37 is the login I originally came here with. At the time I had a 95 SSEi and posted quite a bit. Seemed fitting since I had more mechanical knowledge than some on the forum that I try to help and give back to those helping me.

Not sure why, most folks called me Boost, referenced my username as BillBoost37 and couldn't figure out why their pm's weren't going to BillBoost37. Upon being asked to be a gearhead on the forum I requested the change. Easy enough being that everyone already thought it was my screen name.

Now I own a 97 SSEi with basically one of everything performance wise. The car screws along like no other looking for Vettes and other muscle cars to pick on as anything less than a V8 isn't a challenge anymore. When the boost kicks in on the car... there's a serious scream from under the hood and the tires will bake themselves to oblivion at anything under 40mph on dry pavement.

That's my name story. I'm BillBoost37 and proud to be here.

GXP Venom 12-07-2009 11:00 AM

You'll always be Dinosaurus Boostus to me. Or just Boosty for short.

crunkfrunk 12-07-2009 11:21 AM

crunkfrunk, just a name one of my friends gave me in grade school and it just stuck, I use it for everything now

Do you know how that got programmed with a Tech II? I called a dealership and the the service tech said 'I honestly have no idea, but you can bring it in and we can look at it for $80 an hour'

forget that, it can't be very hard

Rockstar04 12-07-2009 12:01 PM

I started driving 4cyl stock cars at a local dirt track when I was 14, my grandpa raced with the number 04, so did I.

My first car was a total POS, 98CUI with no balls at all, so I got on eBay and bough a sub amd and some speakers. It was a requirement that the speakers and horn still had to work, so I took it to the extreme. On pace laps, cautions and any red flags, you could hear the thumpin' stereo. So a friend, who was a track official started calling me Rockstar, one night when the introduced the driver they announced me as Trent "Rockstar" Petersen and the name stuck.

Trent Rockstar Petersen

theedgeofsanity 12-07-2009 12:49 PM

well, just like BillBoost, I originally made a universal username with AOL and it was RichK1290. I thought that was rather boring and since my friends used to tell me I was insane, I would argue that i was actually a sane individual. In the end, I compromised with them and said I was "on the edge of sanity" and the phrase seemed catchy and I made it into the username that i used for forums and other fun things online.

MouSe 12-07-2009 01:17 PM

Mouse is my nick. Had it since high school. I kinda look like a mouse too. Also, it's tattooed on me.

It was done for me. I'll ask where it is in the menu and let you know when he gets back to me

Y2KSTARSHIP 12-07-2009 05:50 PM

I guess mine is kind of a no-brainer. My SSEi is a 2000 (Y2K) and for a lot of folks, the first trip in the car at night warrants a lot of comments regarding the dash lighting and related components. Most think it resembles a military jet or a "starship" especially due to the red back lighting that Pontiac is famous for. I can't argue with that kind of logic....

Nighthwk12 12-07-2009 09:24 PM

I played on a roller hockey team called the Knighthawks. And My Jersey number is 12. I thought Nighthawk was cooler so did alot of other people. But taking out the a makes it available everywhere even Xbox live. I Think it looks cooler with out the "a" too So Nighthwk12

ymmot04 12-08-2009 02:52 PM

Mine is my name backwards, kind of a family tradition? I prefer Tom now. I started using it in 04.

That aint falling down...that's gangsta low! :D

radomirthegreat 12-09-2009 12:15 AM

Radomir is my real first name. Because it sounds so foreign and old to non-Serbians, I figured I'd capitalize on it and give myself a conqueror-like name. It just so happens to coincide with my conquering personality. I just conquered an ice cream sandwich, for example.

incognegro 12-09-2009 01:05 AM

incognegro.. i'm an incognito, half breed negro... , all the boys at work think it's hilarious, i guess you'd have to know me, i'm a sarcastic Englishman, what can i say really??!!

dscott2000 12-09-2009 04:46 AM

Well, I have had the screen name dscott2000 for a long time. I think it was my freshman year in high school. To break it down is this. D, my first name I never go by. Simply because, the name is my Dad's first name and I just dont like it. SCOTT is my middle name I go by. And 2000 is my graduation year from high school. A little odd. But, as it was said before, the screen name that I wanted was already taken. So, I settled for a familiar screen name.
