I saw a couple Moose on Isle Royal, but they were standing in the water on the other side of the lake. I didn't think they were THAT big!
I did see a minivan that hit an elk one time. It looked bad enough as it was, can't imagine what would happen if you hit a moose.

I hit one of those about 20 minutes north of Subury years ago in a Aerostar. Totaled the Van, killed the moose, sent my 2 passengers to the Sudbury hospital. And was one hell of a day. I won't forget that day anytime soon. Fricken Sudbury. ..Fricken moose for that matter. I was luck it was female.

If it'* not night.. you better not be hitting something that big by mistake..


You can see that thing coming!

It was at 5:00 am after driving about 8 hrs and what happens is the moose runs up on to the road to sometimes get away for the mosquitoes or whatever and then get blinded by the headlights and just freeze right if front of you. Therefore you sometimes have about a second or two to react while your doing about 60 mph. I managed to keep the van on the road, although it bounce in the next lane and the moose went flying about 100 feet.
