The W16 is a very odd engine. 16 cylinders on a common crank, but 4 different psuedo-banks. There really are 2 different cylinder banks of 8 cylinders, but each bank has 2 different planes (4 cylinders each). This is ideal for packaging of the engine (tighter spacing between cylinders), but must have been a nightmare to engineer the cylinder heads. Very cool design! If you go to their website and navigate through to the Veyron 16.4 engineering section you can see what I mean. They have a transparent 360* view of the engine. Very cool stuff right there! They also have a little vid in the Legends of 1001hp section that shows the engine and a quick assembly of parts (computer generated).

I think I could find much more fulfilling things to spend $1.7million though...

an 8liter W16 quad turbo? i wonder kind of mile per gallon it gets, or should i say gallons per mile?

if i could afford that car, gas prices would be the very last thing on my mind.
