Take some tours, talk to some alumni. Go where you feel comfortable.

I did my EE undergrad at Rose-Hulman in Indiana; you might want to check it out.

Classes don't start up again until Monday, Jan 14th. So I'm not sure how busy the campus will really be, or if tours are even availible during that time.

I went to Michigan Tech. It is a good engineering school, the ME department is ranked in the top 25, and has 97% placement, so they say. Lots of co-op opportunities and they do all the extra activities - mini-baja, formula SAE, clean snowmobile, etc. Better like winter, winter activities, and the outdoors in general if you think about going there.

Never heard anything bad about Kettering. Actually the only thing I think I ever heard was that it is still automotive focused. Good if that is what you want to do, and if you don't it probably doesn't make a difference.

University of Maryland'* engineering school is the best public one in the nation. Only schools it'* behind are MIT, Berkley, etc...

From wikipedia:

"Maryland is the flagship institution of the state of Maryland, and is considered to be a "Public Ivy" by authors Howard and Matthew Greene of Greene'* Guides (2001)"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A._Jame...of_Engineering

I'm a Civil Engineering major there now...and you better be really ****** good at math!

If you want to travel look at Georiga Tech. I'm going to the University of North Florida for their engineering school (got in last week!) with a 1140 SAT/24 ACT. Their program has not been around that long, but it is growing, has brand new labs, and is teamed up with the University of Florida.

*Oh and Kettering is relentless if you get on their calling/email list. I never applied or responed to an email and they just kept coming.

My brother'* going to Penn State, he'd KILL me if I even looked there

Maryland'* too hard to get into and too far away from Detroit (auto companies), but it'* an awesome school that I wish I could get into, haha.

Georgia Tech, hmmm, I'll have to look into that, but still, it'* far away and I'm sure it'* just as hard, if not harder, as Maryland to get into.

To be honest, after doing a ton of research, I've pretty much talked myself into Kettering. I'd love to get back to Cincy where all my friends are, but I know I'll get into the shenanigans I got into back at Xavier again, and I really don't want to drop out of another school, haha. So, Kettering it is, I think. I just hope I get in.

All right, I'm really psyched

I called one of the counselors today about transferring credits and what I'll need to take to be admitted. I got a really good vib from him; everyone I've talked to on the phone seems really cool, the receptionist even took a good 10 minutes trying to locate this one counselor for me! Anyways, it seems that as long as I take a precalc and a physics class of some sort (or chem), I'll be golden. He also said that because every credit transfers to OSU, then every credit should transfer to Kettering after review.

I'm very happy and very very very excited
