Ummm, why am I only hearing about this engagement now??? I am only kidding, congratulations, fantastic news. I hope we get to meet her. Anyway, I can honestly say that you are perfectly normal. It is a big decision to spend the rest of your life with one person, but when you get it right it is wonderful. And so long as you look and don't EVER touch, not a big deal.

I am trying to transfer out to the east coast right now. When I do, we (she and I) will be driving from AK back to the lower 48. I will make it a point to stop in and say hi!! I know I have been talking about it for some time now.

I will be popping the question at the end of the month. In the process now of finding the perfect ring

Look all you want, as long as she doesn't catch you looking.

Congratulations on your impending end of freedom. j/k
Paul,

I can't wait toask her. I have been waiting for this for a long, long time!

Yes, Getting married is not a decision to be taken lightly (alas it often is taken too lightly.) Having some anxiety seems perfectly normal.

I recall that once I had proposed, it seemed that elegible women suddenly came out of the woodwork. A fair amount of second guessing ensued. However, the initial decision was sound, so I signed on the line and went through with getting married.

Were I to draw an anology with buying a car (please ladies of the list, do not pelt me with rotten tomatoes) I would compare it to the moment when you are about to sign the car loan...and start wondering if you really like the color of the car...or do you really want a manual transmission instead of the automatic...etc..etc..etc. In your mind you know you are making a life altering commitment.

I thought this was a joke.... 'Develop a tendency to look at the opposite sex'??? the problem comes when you develop a tendency to look at the same sex.
