Default EGR-less N/A 92s - The Final Verdict

Once and for all: How bad are they? Are the problems that bad? I ask because there'* a '92 Bonne SE in the AutoTrader for cheap, and it looks like its pretty decent. It'* a lot like my car, but with a spoiler and white. Also, it'* got almost the same mileage mine had when I bought it. Weird... Anyways, with all the talk flying around about these "bad" '92s with the EGR-less 3.8s in them, I'm apprehensive. Tell me once and for all: How much of a problem are they, and why? Moreover, how does this affect me, being the relatively normal driver I am? Thanks again, guys, for the help

I wouldn't be too concerned about the EGR-less 92s. IMO, it'* not a big deal. There are SEVERAL EGR-less 92s floating around out there with well over 200,000 miles and still going strong. I'm looking for another F-body and as a matter of fact I'm only looking for a 93 and older. Doesn't matter to me.

BTW, we have a member here, JeffBayne, who has almost 400,000 on his 92.

there is really no big concern with a EGRless 3.8, yes they have the possibility of burning a valve, but every car has a possibliliy of something happening to it, even a brand new car, Like Vital has said there are alot of EGRless 3.8'* pushing 200K+

Hmm, okay...

Well, how high is the risk of something happening over one of the EGR-ed 93s, like mine, which I've been told have no major issues almost at all?

180 stat, and a trans cooler will help keep the temps down somewhat. And replacing a valve isn't that big of a deal. It'* easier on NA than SC.

Two things I'm picky about: cars and women. I'm 20 and I've never had a girlfriend. You see my point

Wha???

I wouldn't worry about the Heads too much Kyle, if nothign else you can get a set of 93+ L27 heads in the rare case one burns. Then you'll be upgraded! But some 92'* do have an EGR, so look for it. It'll have the black intake manifold.

i have a 92 bonne that EGRless, and i just rolled 190000 no problems yet, and no stange sounds, and plenty of horsepower, I have the 180 Tstat like WIll was saying but no tans cooler yet (adding it this summer). I would not be too worried, I do regular maintance, 3000 mile 10W-30 Penzoil changes, and once per year tans fluid change, much is hwy driving and i tack on about 25000 miles a year........ good luck buyin your new car Krazy Kyle
