That'* an apples to oranges comparison. Sure, it would. That'* like saying any car on BC would beat a Cobalt.

It'* a no brainer.

Yeah, I was just about to post that. Put an L36 up against the SS and tell me what happens... As for the stang, it looks awesome, sounds mean, and goes fast in a straight line. What am I missing? It is a muscle car that does exactly what a muscle car is supposed to do. Mustangs are not known for road course performance, never were. Also, they were using a convertible for road racing...wtf. Who chooses the heaviest, weakest version of a car for road racing?
Maybe I am missing something but a GT500(KR shown here) looks WAY more aggressive than the V6 model. Which is the Shelby?

umm, WHAT? Dude, the Mustang II was a hell of a road racer. They were monsters in the Trans Am racing series. In fact, the front suspension on that car is still a benchmark today. Look in any Hot Rod magazine and you'll find ads for aftermarket street rod suspensions based on the geometry of the Mustang II.

The Mustang also ran in NASCAR in the late 60s in basically stock form.

I also think that any number of SCCA vintage racers would take exception to your statement...
