EDIT: road rage stories and rants

OK, full story on the Ford Escape in Connecticut is that I was in the right lane, behind a Golf that was doing a reasonable 75 and passing traffic. I checked my rearview after not having looked at it for several miles, and there was a Ford Escape doing his best to crawl up my exhaust. He was up on my tail, so close I could barely even see his wipers, which means he was less than ten feet off my bumper. I tapped the brakes lightly, just enough to slow the truck slightly, nothing drastic. He backed off, pulled around me on the right, and then smashed on his brakes while cutting in front of me, into a space I literally couldn't have got the truck into. I had to damn near lock the brakes to keep from hitting him, and I could feel the back end of the truck starting to get squirrelly. I came within about six inches of hitting him, without exaggeration.
This counts as trying to run me off the road.
I was patient, waited for an opening in traffic and got alongside him, but he wouldn't look at me, so I got his attention by throwing a bottle of water at him. I was aiming for the window, but hit his rear fender instead because of the wind. When he looked over I gave him the bird. Since his window wasn't open, this was the only form of communication open to me. I think he got the point. After that, he dropped way the hell back and left me very carefully alone.
I do not take kindly to someone endangering my life. The brake tap I gave him was barely enough to slow the truck at all, just enough to flash the lights, and he responded by putting my life, Peter'* life, and the lives of quite a few others in danger. As heavy as traffic was at the point where he brake-jacked me, a crash would have collected at least three or four other uninvolved cars. I waited until I had a large open area in which to confront him, and chose not to use my vehicle to do so.
Normally I am a fairly considerate driver, even in the semi. I go out of my way to keep from slowing car trffic on hills, even if it means staying behind a slower truck that costs me momentum going up grades. I move over for people coming down off-ramps, even when it'* obvious that they never even thought of looking for an opening in traffic before the very end of the ramp. I look for openings in traffic as soon as turn onto the ramp, myself. I move over as soon as I've completed a pass, even if no one is behind me. I actually look both ways before going through stop signs and red flashers. I always siganl turns and lane-changes. I don't tailgate.
And yet, I am again and again faced by idiots and aggressive morons. People who hit the brakes at the bottom of a large hill, in spite of not having any traffic anywhere near them. People who refuse to let a truck over, in spite of the fact that their lane is going only fractionally faster, and he'* had his blinker on while tweny cars go by. Cars that slow down and let a big space open up beside a truck, but as soon as the blinker goes on, they hit the gas, because they just don't want to follow a truck. Cars that pass, pull in front of me and then slow down. Kids that go out of their way to screw with trucks, just for the hell of it.
I'm not saying that I'm perfect, or even that I'm not an aggressive driver. The difference between me and these other knuckleheads is that I'm not aggressive to OTHER DRIVERS. I will speed, I will have fun on the road, I will stop-light race(I know, I know), but I am careful not to do any of these things in a manner that puts others in danger, or in a manner that would be construed as rude to other drivers. I follow traffic speed when traffic is heavy, I don't weave through heavy traffic, I don't pressure people to get out of my way by aggressive tailgating, I don't race in any kind of traffic, and I absolutely do not go out of my way to harass anyone.

This happened to me (at 4am since I often open at my job at starbucks) so I pulled into a parking lot and did a few donuts then started driving at him, chased him out of the parking lot, and called the police and said there was a suspicious car waiting outside my store that looked like he was stalking the place to rob it or something.
Some stupid kid in a Corolla (with the little red R that means it'* "fast")
I hate people that get pissed at you when you're going OVER the speed limit. That'* when I mess around with them. I love respectful speeders that wait for a safe moment to get around or for you to let them by...
