Default Dowtown Go-Kart Race this Saturday

The town I work in is closing off the downtown area so that there can be a go-kart race. There will also be bands, arts & crafts, vendors, etc.

If you look at the course map you can see the office I work at. It is on the bottom left of the course, about an inch or so (to the left) from the course. It has a light colored roof in the row of buildings. They are expecting a huge crowd. My friends daughter is racing in the race and she has done very well in other competitions. He is very proud of her!

That'* crazy speed that close to the ground. Seems like much more.

Future pro-racers often get their start in these things as mentioned above.

These are HUGE in my area as well... a friend of mine has built a track in his backyard...folks come from Canada even to race every Sunday. Then there'* the Ransomville Speedway near me - these race every Thurs.

Oh...and kids? ha ah ahaha...these are grown men doing this (and kids too) ... yes, the steering wheel comes off so they can fit into them. Runs on Methanol....they are zippy!

in Jacksonville, Fl which is my town, the longest straightaway on a go-kart track is built here. Speeds of 120 are easily reachable, with higher speeds happening. Its got banked turns and everything. Its a sweet paved track.

MyLittleBlackBird needs to chime in here.....

When we were younger, he did a lot of oval dirt track karting. He qualified for nationals (that'* right, NATIONALS) at least once, and his dad was voted Karting Magazine'* "Mechanic of the Year."

Pretty impressive if you ask me.
