Lies! The only what that could really happen from dumping the clutch would be if there were a bad motor mount, allowing the fran to hit the shround and detatch it. I challenge you to a ...challenge.... in which the contenstant has to break the fan shaft in half just by dumping the clutch!

No big deal anyway...it should be an easy fix.

Those arent to bad to change at all.
Yeah...but the shaft that broke is an integral part of the water pump...so that has to be replaced as well.

Had a bad fan clutch in a old blazer I owned, one day I was driving along with a friend and we heard a loud clunk....happen to looked back and my fan was sitting in the middle of the road spinning.

That happened on my dads F-150 with a 351W. It was not while dumping the clutch cause it was a automatic it broke the shaft, but it didn't take out the shroud. Good one. Looks like it'* time for a high flow pump and an aluminum radiator while your in there.
