ask at your local fish store and they should be able to help you out with whatever brand they may keep in stock

Walmart(at least here) keeps water conditioner in stock. something to neutralize chlorine and heavy metals from your water is what you need. That'll at least be a start.

If I missed it, I'm sorry. Is this a new tank? How long has it been running? Most people tell you to wait several weeks before adding fish. The pet store will say fill it and add fish, dont do that. I've been keeping tanks for a good part of my life and right now have a 125 gal saltwater reef. New tanks should be filled, left falow for up to a month. Then add 1 or 2 cheep fish. You shoudl never add a real nice fish that cost a lot untill a good 6 months, a year is better. Go to that site I listed above and do a lot of reading. Also, set up an account and ask lots of questions, they will help you.

Isn't there a new chlorine that many places are using in their water supplies. IIRC it too is detrimental to aquarium fish.

yeah, you need water conditioner ASAP, fish cant live with chlorine or other heavy metals in the water. that should help alot too. get some freshwater salt also as it will help the fish relax.

No, this is a NEW chlorine that the old school nutralizers can't handle. I'll see if I can find that site.

Other than the tap water, (oscars are not the most sensitive Fish) Feeding him that many goldfish at a time is not good. I have had some larger ones. They are Pigs with scales and wont stop till they cant breath, (so to speak) And when overfull they will set on the bottom at an angle. For a 9 inch fish, a small goldfish a day, tops. As metioned, they are pigs and will beg and act hungry all the time. Here'* a good Oscar site.
