do parking tickets affect insurance rates?
Just pay them. Like someone else said "non moving violation"
When I got a ticket, went to court with a laywer, had them reduce it to a "non moving violation", at that point it has no effect on your record.

Well it was only a single arrow one, and to be honest, I didnt really know what they meant, I come from a town where you can basically park wherever you feel like, so when I venture into the big city, I have trouble with things like this.
The other ticket was for "parking on the wrong side of the street" because although I did intend to park on the side of the road I was on, I pulled in the spot facing the other direction, because to park right you have to go past, then turn around in the smallest driveways ive ever seen in my life, then try not to get run over as you parrallel park on a very busy street...
I really had no idea it was illegal to be facing the wrong way in a parking spot, but 25 bucks later I know!

In MI parking tickets are linked to the CAR not the DRIVER.
Everyone is correct. Only moving violations count against your record. Even if you happened to be on a ATV and got caught riding on the road and was issued a Careless driving ticket - it would count against you.

One night a friend of mine got a parking ticket for being parked in a handicap spot at 1:30am in a completely closed strip mall, no other cars in the lot. He went back the next night and spray painted the entire handicap symbol on the parking spot black to ensure that this will never happen again. Bad idea, probably but it was halarious to stand there and watch him do it.
