Just drive it with no plates, but keep a copy of the signed off title with you in the glove box. Also make sure that you have the insurance binder in your name. If you really want to do things the right way, sign a written reciept with his name and address, your name and address, the VIN, date of sale and sale amount. That a reasonable cop will understand what'* going on. Just have everything consistent and as legal as possible. You'll be fine.

reason im asking is cuz the last time i was driving home from ohio with the 95, i got pulled over for "suspicious driving", and it was a hassle to tell them what was going on...

I never said not to drive it not insured. Unregistered is another thing. He'd have all the documentation to back up what'* really going on. The title would be signed over in his name, which is the same name on the insurance binder, and the same name on the written receipt.

Not sure how MN is, but in WI you can drive the car for 3 days after Purschase, before it has to have plates on it. Just keep the dated reciept and dated title in the glove compartment.
when yo buy the car. have them go with you to the dmv, they will notorize (sp*) the title and you can get temp tags then i think altogether its like 15 bucks here in ohio n e ways. or you can just transfer the plates from the one car to the other. dont know if you are keeping both or selling one. or just have someone follow you if its realy close to your house.
