That'* a good point. But you'll get much more juice out of a Li-ion battery.

On my 300D, the LCD is only used to view the photos after they are taken. Since it is off 98% of the time, one Li-ion battery will last all day long.

Digital cams are getting so tech advanced I guess there are alot of great ones now. I am hard on them. Lose em, drive over them, send them to the depths of a 300 foot deep lake. Paid $99-349 for them. None worked any better than my Wally World HP Photsmart 5 Mp. Got it for $100 and some small change. The only thing I have seen better in resoloution is the higher end Canons like Will Wren'*

As I think was previously mentioned, you don't need any more than 5-6MP unless you are printing very large pictures. I think most sub $200 P&* cameras perform very close. Where the more expensive cameras raise the bar is in the ability to use the various manual features to take better pictures. My old 2.1MP Canon was OK and printed 4x6'* fine but there were a lot of pictures that came out crappy, either overexposed from sun, bad focusing because I was too close or the subject moved too fast; the list goes on. I would say I was happy with about 60% of my pictures. If you don't care about learning the art of photography and just want decent candid pictures of anything then there really is no reason to buy anything more expensive than a $100 or so P&* camera. But if you want nearly all of your pictures to turn out good, take close up pictures of insects, zoom in on a bird a couple hundred feet away, take good action shots, etc. then you want to look at the "pro-sumer" cameras in the $250+ range.

As far as the lithium-Ion battery, mine has that. It was an issue at first, but I plan to just get a backup. The battery lasts a long time. There were a couple times during the holidays where I forgot to turn the camera off and it was on for several hours but the battery was barely drained. The camera does have a power saving feature, but that still surprised me. I try to keep the charger in the bag I have. And when I go somewhere for an extended period where there might be the chance of not being able to recharge it I'll just bring my old camera (which has AA'*) along as a backup.
