Did a little gardening today

You should be fine then, as long as the roots don't have anything to grow into and get stuck. I don't think the lilies were that bad, but water grass and things like that I remember having crazy roots.
We used to use these and tie them down with rocks and fishing line. Gave the fish a little shade from the sun, they liked to hide under them. Also keeps the fish from digging around in the pots and dragging the plants out.

I'll have to see if I can dig up our pond book this weekend, we did some really nice ones. Figured out all of the quirks with putting in waterfalls and filters. I actually miss our main pond, it was big and never needed any cleaning, and we got it "tuned" to sound nice. My mom liked to listen to the pond at night. I'll see what I can find for pictures this weekend.

I wanted a huge waterfall. That one is about a foot. I would have to move the pond further back from the house. I started to close. made the mistake of getting a preformed liner. What a pain. I moved that to a different location. Then picked up a smaller liner. The flat liners are much easier to work with. But still wasn't happy with it. So I picked up a larger one this year. Filled in a bit in the back corner and made the waterfall bigger. If I choose to make it any larger, that whole area will become a pond. But I think it should be fine as it is.

We usually put in an upper retaining pond with some rooty plants that filtered the water, along with some other stuff that was good for the water. Then the water ran through a small (3ft or so) stream with more plants to some big limestone or field stone slabs that dispersed the water over the lower pond. We had a filter box running at the water line with a 3 stage filtering system. Kept the water crystal clear, never had to scoop out leaves or anything. Sounded great to.

Sounds really nice. I could see doing something like that, but just don't have the extra cash and time. I'll just have to live with what I have for now. I always wanted a Japanese garden with several ponds all connected with bridges over the streams. Nice sitting areas in the middle. A nice place to escape the world and relax.

You would have really liked our back yard.. Hammock hanging underneath a big tree, Pond to the left, Pond to the right, Pond in front of you, pool behind you. Hasta and flowers everywhere, waterfalls all going. We had a few really cool japanese trees to. Looked something like this, I don't think that'* the same type of tree though.
