Default Deja Vu all over again...

Get this:

I call up an ad in my local newspaper for a '96 Olds Aurora going for $2500.

Yes, Aurora

She says it'* great except for two things:

It leaks oil
It needs new tires in a few months, she says.

But she says it'* fine besides those things. Chamagne w/ beige interior, she says. 106k miles, something like that (was under 110k, anyway...)

But the craziest thing is this: She works where my mom works, and knows my mom

Crazy! Anyways, going to look at it tomorrow.

Oh yeah, one last thing: JimW or scotty, do you know how I could tell where the oil is leaking from? Thanks What else should I look for at that mileage, also? Same things as with that other Aurora? Anything different being that it'* a '96? I'm wondering what I should offer her, if that'* all that'* wrong... My idea is that, if I can get it for cheap enough, it'* a good deal. Figure oil leak costs a grand, tires about $300 for the kind I want. All negotiating points Thanks guys, for everything

Wow, what a crazy world this is

Just when I thought I got out, they keep pulling me back in! LOL...

Auroras are like that. An oil leak could be serious, hard to tell. Find out what the current owner has done about it, if anything... there may be a reason (i.e. cost) that she hasn't had it repaired. You could clean the undercarriage with a can of degreaser and a hose, then drive it around for awhile... see if you can tell where the oil drips out from there. Or have a mechanic insert dye into the oil, and see where it emerges.

Even if you are going to buy the car and pay for that repair, make sure you know what you're up against before any papers are signed. Good luck!

the Aurora'* are nice! I test drove a 2001 and wow.. that thing was NICE. I think I fell inlove with that car. lol. Just wish it got better than 25MPG. BTW, I prefer the 2001+ models, but the pre 2001 models are also nice most definately.

Why does it matter? Don't answer the frigging post if you don't care, and stay out of my topics too. You want to be like that, don't even say anything. Jesus...
