Make sure you show up for every court date. I don't know about Idaho, but Ohio has a victim notification law that requires victims to be notified before a prisoner goes before the parole board. Show up then, pictures in hand, and testify to pain and suffering. It'll be a wait, sounds like he'll be going for a while, but maybe you can get him a little more. Also, look into filing a civil suit. Take him for every penny you can get.
