Continuing Computer Hardware Problems

I'll look into that, but I installed the latest onboard ethernet drivers as well last night. There hasnt been a problem with internet access, so it could be conflicting video drivers. One step at a time...but its totally frustrating.

I think I may have figured it out.
Currently I am running the ASUS A7N8X-X mobo with an nVidia nForce MCP network adaptor. My internet service provider is Sympatico (DSL) the modem has a splitter out to the computer upstairs that has an external ethernet card (not on the mobo). My OLD system had the same setup (external ethernet). Now, I am getting (and have been since the upgrade) a LIMITED OR NO CONNECTIVITY message on the start bar, refering to the ghetto network I have setup.
nvenet.sys is the nVidia network system driver, its working properly but not communicating with the other computer on the network. Whenever I use IE for downloading or browsing or whatever, there is extra stress put on my onboard network card and it crashes my system, resulting in stop errors that I posted before.
Heres the test. Disconnect the mini network, and try downloading a big file. If it works then I know thats the problem.
If so the solution is to hookup my OLD external ethernet card, get the drivers for that, since its an ASUS ethernet card that should be easy and go back to my old networking. Then shutdown the operations on the mobo ethernet.
There is another situation. I just bought a wireless networking package/internet package from Sympatico.

Would this be a better solution?

I didn't read all of the posts, so forgive me if this is redundant. Check the power cable to be sure it is seated in the back of the PC/. Check the surge protector. It may also be bad. Check to be sure all your expansion cards are seated and bolted down. Check the ram sticks to see they are seated. One way to check for a bad RAM chip is to see if one is hotter than the others you have installed. Though this isn't always 100% reliable.
Check the heat sink and make sure the CPU is all the way seated in the socket and that it is locked down. Check for any metal end of a wire or connector coming into contact with the case or MOBO. Make sure the MOBO isn't touching the case. It should be on nylon stand-offs. Also, re power supplies, always buy more than you need. If you think 300 watts is enough, get a 400 watt PS. Also make sure your fans are clean and there isn't anything blocking the vents on the case.
Check all the IDE and other cables connecting drives to boards. Make sure they're all seated. Lastly check your BIOS setup for any fail-safe setting that might shut down the machine in whole or part due to inside temps.
Hope any of this helps.

I forgot to add a couple of things. SP2 is notorious for messing with some things. Update all of your device drivers. This sometimes helps. Lastly, get copies of Ad-Aware SE (free from Lavasoft) and Spybot Search & Destroy, also free. Run them regularly. These last two items did the trick when my PC was having spasms.
