A bad stick of ram can cause some pretty strange things. It may cause some applications not to work or it could cause the whole thing to crash, depends on the ram. If it runs fine without the ram than its the ram. Also a buddy of mine found that some brands of ram dont work well will certain motherboards. I also had a PC in fact it was my old (2002) AMD I built that when I put a stick of kingston 2700 with the OEM samsung 2700 it would cause frequent restarts, but the rams worked great when by themselfs, never could figure it out, all the specs were the same.

Dont feel bad, you had no way of knowing. Computers are psycho machines, you just learn and move on. Check that ram though, if they have a smaller ram in it take it out and try it with only the 512 you had, see what happens. If it still does it then I would say bad ram rather than compatability issues. Make sure to hold onto metal, dont want Mr. Static causing problems.

Mos, TrueWildMan, any other computer person, any ideas here?
