it is a hp brio (it was free) and it was viking ram pc133 128mb
i brought the ram to work and i tryed the ram in another computer at work and it works fine so i know that its good ram. but i took a stock of pc133 128mb from a work computer and still nothing. so im bring and computer to work tomrrow and im gonna find some pc100 in another computer and just swap it out to make mine work

Not sure if you tried this yet, but sometimes replacing the RAM can corrupt your HDD. You could try reinstalling Windows. If this fails, you could consider a reformatting of the HDD.
Before doing the reinstall, put your Windows CD in the drive, then on a restart go into the BIOS to make sure your computer boots from the CD ROM first. You may get in.

it now has win xp
i went threw a few computer at work and i found some pc100 and swaped it out into mine and it works now i dont have to get kicked off my computer when ever the wifes wants to go online.
BTW compaq and hp suck when trying to upgrade.

i ment for swaping ram i totally forgot that they are picky on ram. i dont hate them cuz well i got 2 pf them now. they are good computers just at times they can be a pain in the a** at time.

Man, I own nothing BUT hp'*. Duh. I work there. I've fed every machine any kind of generic RAM and never had a problem.
SOME, not all, but SOME PC133 RAM is not backwards compatible at the 100 RAM speed.
