The church I go to is made up of about 60-70% Marines we aint having it and you guys are right it makes other churches look bad. If someone did that around here I would punch them in the face, then pray for healing, but thats really not my gift so yeah. People are dumb, there was another church that was crazy like that too but about something else I forgot what though.

That is exactly how a church should NOT act. My Church actually does picket, though, but they picket with peace signs and bush bashing signs (I've done a few myself ). We welcome people from all walks of life, and we do not discriminate in any circumstance. Those people have to ask themselves, seriously, WWJD. I don't know if I can see God pointing a finger at a Marine and say "You're going to die because America accepts homosexuals" Ironically, I think these people need to find religion, instead of an excuse for their hatred....

I hope you dont go to the church that stands in front of walmart or a street corner and tells people they are going to h e l l. Those people make me crazy also. They dont need to find religion thats what they have (Pharisees) they need to find the cross.

hahaha, nooo, you got it all wrong. We just picket in front of our church, but it'* a friendly picket, and we aren't that controversial. Just reminding people to think about peace and to pray to bring our troops home.

what religious denomination are you?

While this could be fun, I wouldn't say its right. I see nothing wrong with picketing for peace, but picketing against our President does not seem right.

Romans 13:1-7 states: "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God'* servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God'* servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God'* servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor."
Mods, please lock this if you feel I crossed the line.

Ok, maybe I went to far with that post... Anyways, I'm an Episcopalian, and our Chruch is pretty small... We're not out to start controversy, mainly to help people think in a more peaceful way

(this is my last post in this topic, I do not want to start a religious debate)

One question, and I implore you not to take offense to this. Please, it is an honest and innocent question, I do not mean to upset or offend anyone, I just can't figure it out for the life of me.

Here it goes.

*edit* nevermind... I can't ask it, it'll **** too many people off

Lets just say, that some of this stuff pisses me off, and i'm leaving this thread now.

These people should not even be classified as a church IMO. As everyone else said, they give us Christians a bad name. True Christians should only display love toward others, not hate.

And I have to agree with Haro petraman. Christians should not bash anyone, including the president. You should be in support of the president. Sure, you won't agree with everything he does, so that is why you need to pray for him, that God guides him to lead our country well. And think about this: just because you want peace and feel the war in Iraq is wrong, doesn't mean it is. Maybe God has a plan where he wanted this all to happen. And I'm not saying he wants people to die, but it can all be part of the greater plan.

I find it interesting that a Church would be anit-Bush.
I attend a conservative church, and well, Bush would be consider a conservative, so we support him
(Note in everything, but over all)
Not saying we're right and every one else is wrong.
I am actually trying to see what a different point of view is.
We can all learn from one another.
I would be happy to clarify my views and be more than willing to listen to others.
I will not get into a debate, however, as I respect this Club to much and will not allow it to get out of hand.
