Is the coolant we have any different than Dex-Cool, or is it the same thing? My manual doesn't say to use Dex-Cool obviously, but some Mopar specific coolant, with a chemical name (forget it at the moment). Are they just trying to get me to buy the Mopar coolant from the dealer?

It is not like dexcool. It is a Mopar/Ford/European Coolant. I think the Japanese and Korean cars use it also. I 'm not sure of the actual name.

Mine is orange too, so I figured there was a chance it was the same as Dex-Cool.

I hope this is something I can buy at regular auto stores. :?

Chrysler uses "hybrid organic acid technology coolant (HOAT)" but I didn't think I had that. Dex-Cool is "OAT." :? I found something called "Glysantin" that is the same thing....off to research more....

EDIT: The chemical name that is in my manual is ethylene-glycol FWIW.

Cant you just get some of the coolant that "mixes with anything" ?

I mean you would think they researched that statement before they used it as a selling point.

So far from what I have found you shouldn't mix the coolant for Chrysler vehicles with anything else. =/

In my 97 sebring I had orange coolant. The stuff they sell at carquest/autozone/napa in the silver bottle that is orange coolant is what I used to use in the Sebring. Chrysler them self told me it was ok for me to use it. I also use that same stuff in my bonneville. So there it is.....
