Cheap cars with good gas mileage
My '93 couldn't touch the ol' 88 Nova (Corolla) in highway MPG. I did 40 once freakishly in this car.
Keep in mind a 98ish Civic would be a lot better then a 20 year old car that needs work too
A more efficient 4 cyl with a manual tranny in a lighter car will get great mileage, especially because they're setup for it with gearing, etc..
And respinS, that'* a lot beter then my mileage book I keep on the bonne...

Ford Focus, Taurus, and Mercury Sable. Those are the first ones to come to my head. All three are reliable and are not gas guzzlers. I originally wanted a Taurus or Sable, but ended up with the Bonneville (which I'm very happy about)

Japanese small cars can't really be touched when it comes to mileage with respects to most domestic offerings.

That'* 27.01mpg to date. MPG is getting better as the weather gets warmer, but it'* still pretty crappy.
Granted, I could use new plug wires and a distributor cap/rotor, O2 sensor, etc, but quite frankly this car isn't worth enough to even justify that.
I'd really like a granny-geared beater-Bonneville right about now.
So YOU have one of those too? Ill have to post mine sometime.... many many pages long.
Pretty handy wouldnt you say?
