A chat about GM's quality reputation

GM'* fit and finish could be improved a lot but, with mechanics and reliability they are probably above average. The late 70'* early 80'* when GM really was turning out crap is too foremost in most peoples minds 20 years later.

why do ppl dislike the way the GTO styling is? I like it. I would rather have a car that has a true sleeper look instead of something that everyone knows is a runner any day

I like the front of the GTO but the back leaves something to be desired. Mayby its this "futuristic" styling all of these companies seem to be aiming for which I dont like. Over exaggerated tail lights, huge headlight housings, cars that resemble the shape of a bubble, ect. I hate it.

Car and Driver is a joke. If its not a corvette or from Japan, its crap to them.

I wonder what the average lifespan of a saturn is, but I saw one with something like 800k once on ebay. Personally I would not at all mind having like a 2000 SC2, they aren't ugly and you can get them with a good amount of options.

I feel that GM is lacking in certain areas... But what car manufacture doesn't?
I love Hondas, but for the price of an Accord... Um no thats ok, I'll get something GM...
The 3100-3400 and 3800'* are all great engines, a bit behing in the technology war, But( hypocritical statement here, sort of ) These are some of the cleanest most fuel efficent V6'* around no matter the OHV or DOHC configuration...
I saw a commercial that showed the Accord Hybrid getting 37 mpg on the highway....
Funny in 2000 I saw Impallas( larger car, heavier too ) rated at 32 mpg on the hwy... Not even a hybrid... Real worl if you keep your foot out of the 3400 may be more like 35mpg...
A friend bought a 2004 GA, and the sticker rating was 32 hwy....
I will say that i have had fewer problems with my 91 as compared to my 95... I feel that the quality has dropped off a bit over the years... But I would buy another GM...
I also never cared for the Duratech 3.0 from ford....
I'd rather have the 60* 3.0 Vulcan in a 94-95 Taurus... Than a 3.0 duratech in the newer ones... Thats just me I guess... lol

There are so many 3400 powered GM cars on the road these days, the majority of the general public isnt stupid, they know whats the best bang for there buck and gets excellent gas mileage. I feel that mags like car and driver dont even cater to your average person anyways.
