Default Cars are getting uglier

I know it'* been said, but i just saw a commercial for the new Volvo S60. Which happens to be one of my favorite cars.

How did we go from this sexy beast:

To this ant-eater snout, **** colored POS.

From this sleek and sexy:

To this thing with headlights designed by a 4 year old:

This decent sporty little car
nIF4Z.jpg

To this thing that'* way too happy to be so ugly

Then there'* this masculine beaut with its well defined lines

That someone took an eraser to and smoothed away all the sexiness.

Trucks are not immune either

I don't know, I'm still stuck on the sports cars of the 90s.

What I'm not liking is how they feel the need to cram a 100 air intakes on cars now, like that makes it look sporty.

What i dont like about new cars is alot of things, main thing i realized today was the interior fabric seems cheap and crappy compared to my 15yo cloth seats

Most interiors look plastic, because they are. I drove a 2005 Corvette for 2 years, nice car, but very plastic. Not worth 50 grand

Designers are follow the leader and what they perceive public is wanting buying. Not what they want to create themselves. Unless you work for an Italian maker who sells his wares for Million+

My take is Blame it on Dodge. They created the brute, manly, blunt/snout look on its truck line in 94. Over the years every maker slowly followed suit. Chevy the last to fall into it. It did the Dodge truck wonders and helped MoPar pull out of it'* downfall. They transferred the look to the 300 and it did/does well. And they have moved it into other models and took it further and now the rear of their models is getting the same treatment. Personally it is those influences I see in the Challenger (My all time fav)(Dont be hating) that make me walk away from it now. So now brute/blunt has taken a foothold up and down the styling block and went oversea'*. I hope the fad dies quicker than it took to blossom. I to hate it. The 2010/11 Malibu'* make me want to just take a sledgehammer to them.

There'* really nothing new I like. It'* either look at me I'm a muscle car, well, trying to look like one anyways. Or a tree hugging look at me I'm saving the planet. Ick.

I agree there arent many new vehicles i would waste my money on. The Challengers r Stout and Muscular looking! If i were to buy a new vehicle it wouldn't be a car. It would prolly be a Silverado HD, DuraMax Diesel, Allison Tranny, Exhaust brake, ect
