Default CarMax

Well, while full-time job hunting, I stumbled on an opportunity at CarMax. They're hiring for Detailers/Porters, which I've got experience in seeing as how I spent a summer working as a porter at a Chevy Dealer near my old house. I thought, as well as I'm planning to buy a car from them, why not shoot for a discount while I'm at it? I applied Thursday of last week so I'll give them a call tomorrow and see how that works. Otherwise I'll end up part-time back at UHaul where I worked down at school and just transferred my job up to near home. EIther way, I'll get to work with my hands and learn more about autos. *Crosses fingers* I hope to get CarMax.....

Well, guess who called me back this morning (and woke me up out of a sound sleep)?. Yep, CarMax. I finally got an interview with them next Wednesday afternoon. I'm kind of curious to know what position they're going to be interviewing me for because I applied for a handful of them back when I was job hunting. I guess we'll see what happens.

Maybe all of them. Letting a potential employer know you are qualified for more than one position is usualy a good idea...

Good luck!

Well, didn't get the job at the Schaumburg location (which is where I had the interview). They sent me a postcard saying "Thanks, but we've chosen someone else" basically. Nuts!

UPDATE: I applied for the same position at the Naperville location of CarMax saturday night. They called me yesterday evening while I was at my other job so I called them back just now. I've got an interview with them in just a little while today. We'll see how this one goes

Nope, didn't even get an interview there either. Apparently I've gotta wait 6 months in between interviews at different locations. They didn't bother to tell me that before I drove out there and wasted an hour just waiting for someone to tell me that. Guess that'* just how my luck goes.....
