Canon inkjet printer refilling.

I was just given a used Canon iP3000 inkjet printer from a relative. The printer only came with a power cord and the ink cart’* inside. I hope this will be an upgrade from my old HP950C.

I had decent luck refilling the HP ink carts and would like to try my luck with the Canon.

So if you have any tips on refilling Canon carts please chime in.

It would also be nice to find a spare set of empty carts to refill and have ready.
The iP3000 uses 4 cart’* total a wideBCI-3eBK and narrow BCI-6c, BCI-6M, BCI-6Y.

I read that newer Canon ink cart’* PGI-5 and CLI-8 will work in my older printer but I can’t confirm this.
