I think I might have been on the wrong track with a DSLR. Just a little to advanced for what I know. Plus the budget is complaining to me. How about something like this. I emailed them to see if they would take $225.

With the S3 or S5, etc, you're paying for the long zoom range... not necessarily image quality.

I like the Canon A-series, you should be able to get the A720 IS brand new for cheaper than that used S3 - I _think_ (not know) that both cameras might have the same CCD sensor. The real Canon right below the DSLRs are the G series. I've got a G6 which my brother recently picked up for $300, LNIB:

so I should probably research a little more...

I want to spend no more than $250 in reality, and I want a very effective zoom. Image quality is not a huge factor for me, as even with my 5mp Sony, I shoot in 1mp mode all the time.

I hear good things about the S6000'* performance, be forewarned that it only takes xD (yes xD, not SD) type memory.

I was reading the reviews and saw that. However, I really like the look of the camera, almost looks like a DSLR.

Haro, I have the older S3000, frankly i'd let it go for a decent price too. Natively it shoots 3mp, will do 6 with some fancy interpolation on the SuperCCD... It'* got 10x zoom, will shoot video as long as you have memory (not limited to say 30 sec like some makes).

I've got a 1Gig and 128Meg XD card for it as well.

I'm looking to get something tiny, and a DSLR eventually, The middle range one isn't quite for me.. Sensor seems clear, it'* somewhere in the 5-6k pic range right now...
