Default Camera geeks - Just bought an L

I just bought my first Canon L lens.

200mm f/2.8 L

I didn't take the pic, but this is from the person who is selling it to me.

I'm selling my 85mm to get this instead. I want something with a longer reach.

This is gonna be a sweet lens.

L glass. Damn. I'm still stuck with my point and shoot A75 and a 50mm : 1.7 lens on the film SLR. :(

I'm giving up a nice lens in the process though. I can't afford to have both. I saved some money buying that 200mm lens used. It was only used on a couple occasions, and was bought last summer, so it is practically new. I saved about 50 bucks off the retail price.

The 85mm is an AMAZING lens, and I will miss its 1.8 aperture. I still have my 50mm 1.4 though, so I will still have a good portrait lens.

I should get this new one in the mail by Tuesday or so. I'm just so geeked I'm actually getting an L lens!

I have so much to learn...just wondering, what makes this such a good lens? As opposed to other lenses?

This will explain it better than I can. It'* very high quality glass, that takes very sharp and colorful photos.
